General Insurance resources
Why do I need to insure anything?
General insurance is the cover-all term for every kind of insurance, from car
insurance to travel insurance - everything, in fact, except life insurance.
General insurance proves cover for you against any accident or happening that
could exact a financial cost. General insurance covers you for this cost.
It may seem odd that we need to pay money into a company in order to cover any
kind of loss at all - why not just stick it all into a bank, and avoid filling
in massive forms, and risk being refused? Firstly, some insurance is compulsory,
such as car insurance, or very necessary, like health insurance. You MUST have
the insurance that the law requires, and you SHOULD have insurance that can
protect you against happenings that you cannot afford. General insurance keeps
you from having to shell out if you loose everything. The idea of insurance
exists in the principle that you may only pay a small amount of the total
policy, but you are still covered financially for the total cost. That is why
general insurance provides better cover than just saving, and an easier
resolution when you need to make payments.
General insurance policies also provide services, such as arranging a
replacement car in car insurance, or finding a solicitor for compensations
claims, that you might struggle to achieve on your own. Not only do you have the
financial benefits, but you can also get solutions, support and advice from your
insurance company. Specific policies will detail what they provide, and it is
worth examining closely the details of what you will get help with.
Peace of MindThe chief benefit of general insurance, and the reason why almost everyone has
some kind of insurance, is that it provides peace of mind. You know, if you are
insured, that any costs are covered; insurance is not a license to go out and
have accidents, but can take your mind off of worry if you do suffer a
misfortune. If there were to be no other benefit than that, taking out insurance
would still be worth the expense of getting a policy.
